Bideford BIG DRAW – Community event 

Date: Saturday 30 October 2021

Using the universal language of drawing for learning, expression, and invention. Getting Bideford involved and creative by being part of the World’s Biggest Community of Drawing Enthusiasts!  

Theme: Make the Change – Looking across the Water. 

From the Quay west side looking over river and drawing / painting:  

  • History – what the river, foreshore, wharves were like in the past
  • Present – what the river, foreshore, wharves look like now
  • Future – what the river, foreshore, wharves might look like in the future 

The Big Draw Festival is a worldwide celebration of drawing. Using drawing to bring communities together through positive activism and creativity .

Who can participate? 

Open to individuals, families, artists/art groups, history groups, natural history groups . . . .            

  • Members with art teaching experience will help/encourage participants, 
  • Inspiration available from historical information/images from the WOTW website 

What will it cost?

  • No entry charge
  • Funded from donations and a grant from Heritage Lottery Fund to cover: Big Draw subscription, Torridge DC licence for use of quay, Public Liability Insurance, gazebos/shelters, safety equipment, publicity and printing, website, administration, prizes, paper, pencils, drawing boards, etc
  • Pre- register at

Exhibiting and prizes

All artworks to be photographed, collated and uploaded to the WOTW Bideford BIG DRAW website. Exhibitions of selected artwork to be organised. Prizes for categories youngsters, students, adults.

How to get involved

Organised by Way of the Wharves with support already from: TTVS, The Burton, Learn Devon, Freshspring, Red Earth, Morris and Bott, Quay Drawing

Volunteers required to steward event including: signing in participants, registering submissions, upload to website, encouragement and coaching, safety, etc
